Start by earning your Child Development Associate
(CDA)
 
 
First meet Eligibility Requirements
 
  • Are you 18 years of age or older
  •  Hold a high school diploma or the equivalent, or you are a junior or senior in a high school vocational program in early education.
  • Have 480 hours of experience working with young children within the past 5 years in a state-licensed home or center setting.
 
         Then choose one of the following areas:
 
  • Infant/Toddler Specialization
  • Preschool Specialization
  • Family Childcare Specialization
  • Home Visitor Specialization

Obtain 120 Clock hours of training through GHCCA after which  we will observe you in a licensed childcare setting working with young children and assist you with completing your Professional Resource File (all of which will be explained in class.)
 
Additional Steps Include:
 
Complete and mail the following documents to the CDA Council:
 
  • Direct Assessment Application
  • $425 assessment fee (paid to the CDA Council)
  • Verification of the 120 hours of training (obtain through GHCCA)
 
GHCCA Courses does not grant the CDA.  The CDA Credential is administered and awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition.
 
The cost of the CDA TRAINING CLASS IS $350.
